Sony Pictures Wonderverse
Next month Sony Pictures is opening up Wonderverse at the Oakbrook Center mall near Chicago. It's like an entertainment wonderland with stuff from their movies and shows like Jumanji, Ghostbusters, Bad Boys, Zombieland, and Uncharted. Get ready for a mix of movies and games all in one spot!

Coming next month, Sony Pictures is unleashing Wonderverse at the Oakbrook Center mall, covering a whopping 45,000 square feet. This indoor wonderland is not your average spot – it’s a mix of real-world and high-tech experiences, featuring cool things like escape rooms, virtual reality, racing simulations, and even bumper cars. Sony is stepping into new territory here since all its previous projects were licensing deals. From Jumanji with Merlin Entertainments to the Columbia Pictures Aquaverse in Thailand and the Uncharted ride in PortAventura, Wonderverse is a first-of-its-kind venture for them.

Jeffrey Godsick, Sony Pictures EVP of Global Partnerships and Brand Management, and Head of Location-Based Entertainment, is pumped about it, saying, “Wonderverse is an exciting expansion for Sony Pictures’ growing location-based entertainment experiences. Experiences like Wonderverse provide audiences the opportunity to enjoy our brands in new ways by immersing themselves in some of their favorite stories.”

Get ready for some seriously cool attractions at Wonderverse! Here are the highlights: Uncharted: The Pursuit, Ghostbusters Virtual Reality Academy: Pacific Playland, Zombieland Bumper Cars, Jumanji: Reverse The Curse, Bad Boys Racing Club, The Ghost Trap, and 21 Jump Street Pop-Up Bar. And that’s not all—the Commissary Bar, led by mixologist Jane Danger, is whipping up specialty cocktails and mocktails along with light bites. If you’re hungry for more, the Commissary Restaurant, headed by chef Scott Donaldson, has a full menu to satisfy your cravings.

Exciting news for eager fans: you can get a sneak peek of Wonderverse starting December 2023, with the grand opening in January 2024. And here’s the best part—entry is free, and the attractions are priced so everyone can join in on the fun. Just a heads up, though—after 8 p.m., Wonderverse turns into an adult-only experience.

Tim Geiges, Senior General Manager of Oakbrook Center, couldn’t be happier about being the first home for Wonderverse. He said, “We’re thrilled to be the first location for Sony Pictures Entertainment’s Wonderverse and have it as our largest entertainment option. We often hear from guests how they love our mix of entertainment, so we’re excited to offer a completely new experience for them to enjoy, especially as we approach the colder months.”
